Risa Puno

Risa Puno is a NYC-based interactive installation artist who takes play seriously. She has exhibited with national and international organizations, including: The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, NYC Department of Parks and Recreation, Rose Kennedy Greenway in Boston, MA, Onassis USA, Socrates Sculpture Park, El Museo del Barrio, New Children’s Museum in San Diego, CA, and Science Gallery in Dublin, Ireland. Puno is the recipient of multiple awards and residencies, including the John Michael Kohler Arts Center Arts/Industry Residency, New Museum’s NEW INC program, and FIGMENT’s first ever Interactive Artist of the Year. She was selected by Creative Time as their inaugural Open Call winner and her resulting project, The Privilege of Escape, was named Most Innovative Immersive Experience by the 2019 Immersion Awards. Puno's work has been featured in major media outlets, including The New York Times, NPR, The New Yorker, ProPublica, and The Boston Globe. She currently serves on the NYC DOT Art Advisory Committee and on the board of the Black Immersive Creators Grant. Puno grew up in Louisville, Kentucky, and she studied art and medicine at Brown University and earned her MFA from New York University.
