A presentation and conversation towards a mixed media stage play. Playwright and Director Idris Goodwin, Arizona's own Childsplay Theatre and The Mix are joining forces to tell a new story in a new way for new audiences. J Sonic and The Unknown, part of the BIPOC SUPERHERO’S INITIATIVE, is an exciting sci fi, afro futuristic adventure play slated for production in fall 2025. Though currently only in script form, Idris would like to invite participants into the process, as he begins to thrust his new baby into the brave new world of technology, exploring the appropriate merge of the analog (live performance) and digital. After a roughly 30 minute, show and tell, reading of the script, the audience will be invited to share their prescriptive ideas, recommendations and visions.

Idris Goodwin is a multi award winning storyteller of stage, audio, screen and page. Artistic Director of Seattle Children’s Theater, Idris writes, directs, programs and /or produces relevant content for intergenerational audiences. Goodwin is the author of over 60 dynamic and diverse original plays. His storytelling prowess extends to creating original content for Nickelodeon, HBO Def Poetry, Wondery and more. His first picture book, 'Your House is Not Just A House', is forthcoming on Clarion/Harper Collins 2024. You can hear Idris weekly on the Break Beat Week Podcast, where he summarizes the top stories in hip hop form.
